Each fiscal quarter, the Athens Area Arts Council grants $500 to organizations, artists, or events that best align with our mission in Athens, GA: “connecting arts to the community” in the most meaningful, substantial, and sustainable ways.
Deadlines are March 15, June 15, September 15, and December 15. Once you apply for 2016, your entry will remain in contention throughout the year. Therefore, if you apply by March 15 but do not receive the March grant, there is every chance that you could receive the grant in June, September, or December, without having to re-apply. Questions about our grant should be directed to AthensAreaArtsCouncil@gmail.com.

Our Grants Allocation Committee takes several factors into account when selecting a grant recipient.
- A Plan that Fits Our Mission
Our ideal candidate will present a specific, detailed and feasible plan for the use of their grant funds. A great application includes not only goals for the project but an aspirational timeline for plan implementation.
- Recognition for the Arts Council
A successful project will be a success for the community, the event organizer and for the Arts Council. We expect that our contribution to the project will be recognized (through signage, logo placement, public thanks, etc.). Exposure for the Arts Council is essential as publicity helps us raise funds to ensure the longevity of our grants program. An ideal application will include a public relations plan that will boost recognition for the project itself and for the Arts Council’s involvement in the project.
The Grants Allocation Committee will also take into consideration the financial need of the applicant, with priority given to non-profits, individual artists or organizations with limited alternative means of fundraising.
